The State Police seized 3,600 grammes of cocaine and 1,090 grammes of heroin in the Marsala area, as reported by Google News IT — Crime (it). The narcotics were intended, according to investigators, for drug-dealing operations in Marsala and neighbouring municipalities.

The drugs were hidden in the boot of a vehicle driven by a woman from the province of Messina, with a criminal record for illegal possession of firearms. The vehicle had entered the territory of Marsala in the early morning hours, travelling on secondary roads.

What aroused the suspicions of police officers conducting territorial patrols was the woman's driving behaviour, which appeared particularly cautious and uncertain about the destination. The subsequent check revealed her criminal history, making a search of the vehicle appropriate, which led to the discovery of the narcotics.

According to investigators from the Mobile Squad of Trapani and the Commissariat of Marsala, the woman had acted as a courier, offering her availability for transport in the hope of not appearing suspicious.

The woman was placed under arrest and, at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Marsala, the Judge for Preliminary Investigations of the Court of Marsala ordered custodial detention in prison.

The market value of the seized narcotics is estimated at approximately 400,000 euros, according to the annual report to Parliament on the phenomenon of drug addiction.
