Messina Denaro's sisters investigated, judge refuses arrest
Judge: 'serious evidence of guilt but no precautionary measures because boss is dead'

Boss's sisters investigated, but freed
According to ANSA Cronaca, Giovanna and Bice Messina Denaro, sisters of Castelvetrano mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro, are under investigation for procured non-compliance with a sentence: they allegedly helped their brother evade capture during his period on the run.
The Public Prosecutor's Office had charged them with mafia association and requested their arrest, but the preliminary investigations judge reclassified the charges. While acknowledging the presence of serious evidence of guilt against them, the judge imposed no precautionary measures, justifying the decision by citing the death of the boss.
The prosecutors have filed an appeal with the Court of Review.
