The State Police in Verona has arrested a 34-year-old Moroccan citizen caught hiding drugs among shrubs in via Albere. The judge has validated the arrest and ordered a residence ban from the province.

The State Police in Verona arrested a 34-year-old Moroccan citizen yesterday evening on charges of possession of narcotics for the purpose of dealing. This was reported by questure.poliziadistato.it, specifying that the arrest took place around 21:45 near a betting shop on via Albere, as part of a territorial control operation aimed at combating drug dealing in the area.
Officers from the patrol cars noticed three men who, upon seeing the patrol, quickly walked away in opposite directions. One of them was stopped while attempting to conceal a package under some bushes.
Inside a crumpled handkerchief hidden among the shrubs, approximately 4.29 grammes of cocaine, divided into six pre-packaged doses, and approximately 9.70 grammes of hashish were found. A subsequent body search led to the seizure of a further small quantity of hashish and 90 euros in cash, in banknotes of various denominations.
The 34-year-old, already known to law enforcement, was arrested and detained at the police headquarters on the order of the Judicial Authority, pending the direct trial proceeding.
This morning the judge validated the arrest and ordered against him the precautionary measure of a residence ban from the province of Verona.
The criminal responsibility of the person under investigation is considered established only following the outcome of a trial with an irrevocable criminal sentence.
