Apartment at Eur converted into dealing hub: two arrests in Rome
According to questure.poliziadistato.it, investigators from the IX Esposizione District of the State Police arrested two men suspected of possession for the purpose of dealing in controlled substances inside an apartment in the Eur district of Rome. During the search, approximately €15,000 in cash and a professional scanner capable of detecting police radio frequencies were seized.
The operation resulted from a prolonged surveillance activity that had documented a continuous flow of presumed buyers near the residence. Once the raid was planned, one of the occupants attempted to dispose of a package by throwing it into a decorative pot on the building's stairs, loudly calling out to his flatmate to alert him of the arrival of officers.
Upon entering the apartment, police found the accomplice attempting to take refuge in the bathroom. The sound of the toilet flushing and an open window onto the shared building garden further directed the officers' suspicions, who hypothesised an attempt to dispose of incriminating material.
On the living room table, instead of dinner, a counter for preparation and division of the substance was set up: precision scales and transparent plastic bags for packaging doses. Personal and residential searches made it possible to find some doses of cocaine ready for retail sale.
The pot on the stairs yielded a package containing 100 grammes of cocaine, hidden moments before the raid. Confirming the investigative hypothesis, during the operation a man presented himself at the residence and declared he was a regular buyer of the substance supplied by the two suspects.
The sum in cash — approximately €15,000 in banknotes ranging from 5 to 100 euros — was seized inside the apartment. The unemployment status of both arrested individuals further strengthened the accusatory picture. The discovery of the professional scanner for radio frequencies highlighted the organised and structured nature of the activity.
The Judicial Authority validated the arrest and ordered both to be held in custody in prison. The suspects, as provided for by law, benefit from the presumption of innocence until a possible final sentence of conviction.
