Fatal shooting on the outskirts of Molfetta: investigations into a possible settling of scores
A young man died in the night after being struck by gunfire in a peripheral area of Molfetta, in the province of Bari. Antonio La Forgia did not survive despite emergency transport to hospital by his girlfriend, who was with him at the time of the attack.
According to what has been reconstructed so far, the couple were in the vicinity of a venue when an argument broke out with other individuals. Shortly afterwards, along the stretch of road that crosses the industrial area, the victim's vehicle was pulled alongside by a motorcycle with two people on board. The passenger fired several shots, two of which hit the young man in the head.
The girlfriend, extensively questioned by Carabinieri officers, represents crucial testimony for reconstructing the exact sequence of events. The law enforcement agencies are carefully examining her account, although at present no official details are emerging about the contents of the interrogation.
At the same time, investigators are scrutinising the victim's life: his activities, his associations and possible contacts with environments linked to drug trafficking. The aim is to establish whether the murder was the result of an argument that escalated instantaneously or whether behind it lies a premeditated assault, perhaps as retaliation within pre-existing tensions in the criminal underworld.
The industrial sector in which the incident occurred is monitored by surveillance cameras. The Carabinieri are reviewing the footage in the hope of identifying faces, number plates or elements useful for tracing the identity of the two fugitives.
