Italy's Court of Cassation has granted a review petition for three Libyan footballers convicted in connection with the 15 August 2015 massacre, when 49 people lost their lives during a Mediterranean crossing. They had been convicted over the tragic crossing on 15 August 2015 that ended with the deaths of 49 people. In May, the first to obtain a new trial was Alaa Faraj, who was partially pardoned by Mattarella.
