In the Ionian city, a 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stalking and ill-treatment of his cohabiting partner. The woman was aided in the Tamburi district with injuries from a bladed weapon.

In the Tamburi district of Taranto, officers from the Flying Squad section arrested a 46-year-old resident, deemed responsible for acts of persecution and physical violence against his partner.
The report brought officers to the scene, where they found a woman in an evident state of shock, with bloodstained clothing and a bandage on her arm due to a laceration that had previously been sutured.
During a protected interview, the victim reported that the partner had progressively intensified violent conduct over time. The most serious assault allegedly occurred when the man induced the woman to meet him for a supposed reconciliation, only to attack her inside the car while wielding a box cutter. During the struggle the woman sustained a wound to her arm.
During the victim's statement, her family members alerted the operations centre reporting that the suspect was attempting to force the entrance door of the building. The patrols promptly located and arrested him at his home.
After the documentation was transmitted to the Judicial Authority, the arrested man was taken to prison. It is recalled that the presumption of innocence remains for the suspect until the judgment becomes final.
