Anti-drug operation in Taranto
According to questure.poliziadistato.it, the State Police arrested two brothers from Taranto with criminal records on suspicion of possession of cocaine for the purpose of dealing. The Hawks of the Mobile Squad carried out an operation on Via Bergamini when one of the young men, mistaking them for customers, spontaneously showed two doses of the substance.
Officers stopped the young man and extended the search to the family flat in the same building. Inside they found the older brother lying on a bed with a cellophane bag containing numerous doses of cocaine. The 21-year-old is currently under house arrest since September.
During the search police seized 30 heat-sealed wraps of cocaine, 1,500 euros in cash believed to be proceeds of the illicit activity, and two smartphones presumably used to manage the dealing. The documents were transmitted to the Judicial Authority. The older brother was taken to Taranto prison. Both individuals are subject to the presumption of innocence until final sentence.
