Two Georgians arrested in Bergamo following overnight burglary on Via Rossini
The Bergamo State Police arrested two Georgian citizens caught at dawn in a flat in Via Rossini whilst stealing gold jewellery.

At dawn on Thursday, the Bergamo State Police blocked two Georgian citizens, born in 1992 and 1994, inside a flat in Via Rossini where they were completing a theft. This is reported by questure.poliziadistato.it.
The operation was launched at around 5.00, when the Questura Operations Room sent a patrol car to the street following a report from a resident: the man, looking out from the fourth-floor window, had heard the sound of breaking glass and noticed suspicious movements in the flat below, on the second floor.
Upon arrival, police officers identified a window with a broken pane; from inside came the beam of a torch light. Initial checks made it possible to establish that the two had managed to access the dwelling by climbing along the methane gas pipes.
Some of the officers cordoned off the area to cut off all escape routes, whilst others attempted to enter through the main entrance. The armoured door, locked with multiple bolts, blocked access. The intervention of the Fire Service was therefore requested, which with its ladder truck allowed two police officers to reach the flat from outside, entering through the bedroom window and catching the two men still inside.
The flat was completely ransacked: furniture and drawers had been rifled through. In the room where the two were detained, the officers recovered a bag containing numerous gold jewels that had just been stolen.
Taken to the Questura for checks, both were arrested for attempted burglary. Identity verification also made it possible to establish that one of the two had already been repatriated on 22 August 2024 with an escort to the border and was subject to a ban on re-entry into Italy for five years, ordered by the Prefect of Milan. For this reason he was also arrested for illegal re-entry into national territory.
In the early afternoon both appeared before the Judicial Authority with immediate trial proceedings: the arrests were validated and both were ordered to be held in pre-trial custody in prison, pending the next hearing.
The presumption of innocence applies to the investigated persons until a final conviction.
