Young Ukrainian arrested in Rimini for attempted murder in abandoned hotel

In the early hours of 29 May, the State Police arrested a young Ukrainian man for attempted murder in the Miramare area of Rimini. According to questure.poliziadistato.it, the victim was transported in critical condition to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, where he is currently in a comatose state.

It all began around 02.00, when a woman contacted the Operations Room of Rimini Police Headquarters, reporting a violent altercation between two foreigners and stating that she did not know if a person was still alive. Officers from the General Prevention Office and Public Assistance unit responded, together with the Mobile Squad.

Agents found the woman at the exit of a hotel that had been abandoned for years, in a state of severe agitation. She reported that inside there was a person on the ground who had lost a lot of blood. On the bed, police officers found the victim with blood pouring from his head.

Meanwhile, a man approached the officers of his own accord, guiding them to the location of the assault and repeatedly saying: "I DID IT... HURRY, I KILLED HIM".

Shortly afterwards, an ambulance and a medical vehicle arrived. The injured man was transported urgently to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena, whilst the suspect was taken to Police Headquarters for identification.

From investigations it emerged that the 118 emergency operator had received a call from a man who stated he had struck someone with an iron pipe. The call came from a mobile phone registered to a third party, which the alleged attacker had handed to the woman present in the building; the device was promptly seized.

The Scene of Crime Laboratory of Rimini responded to the location, and later personnel from the Bologna laboratory also arrived, given the need to conduct numerous examinations at the crime scene.

The duty prosecutor, informed of the incident, ordered the arrest of the accused to be transferred to prison, at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.

It is recalled that persons under investigation and charged are presumed innocent.
