Hashish "incoming" stopped at Tor Bella Monaca: two arrested after acrobatic escape
The Rome Police Headquarters — as reported by Google News IT — Crime (it) — intercepted a shipment of more than 51 kilogrammes of hashish intended for the drug markets in the eastern quadrant of the capital. The operation led to the arrest of two young Romans, both born in 1997, seriously suspected of possession with intent to distribute narcotic substances.
Investigators from the Mobile Squad kept the movements of the two accomplices under observation, and caught them whilst transporting three heavy plastic bags towards the public housing buildings in the neighbourhood. At the moment of the raid, those arrested abandoned the shipment and attempted to flee in opposite directions.
One of the two was stopped almost immediately. The other reached the entrance to a building and made his way to the roof, before launching himself in parkour style onto a balcony below. The acrobatic manoeuvre was however anticipated by the officers, who had already secured every exit route: the fugitive was stopped in the street.
The three bags contained 500 blocks of hashish in 100-gramme format each, marked with designs inspired by tropical fruit. The potential proceeds on the illicit market are estimated at several hundred thousand euros.
Both were arrested. The measure was subsequently validated by the judicial authority at the tribunal in Piazzale Clodio, which ordered them to comply with an obligation to report to the judicial police.
It is clarified that the evidence described relates to the preliminary investigation phase. For those under investigation, the principle of presumption of innocence applies until a possible final determination by an irrevocable conviction sentence.
