Turin, 70-year-old Peruvian arrested on Interpol warrant for armed robbery
The State Police have arrested in Turin a 70-year-old Peruvian citizen subject to an international arrest warrant for robberies committed in Peru in the 1990s.

The State Police arrested in recent days in Turin a 70-year-old Peruvian citizen, subject to an international arrest warrant issued for extradition purposes by the Peruvian authorities. As reported by questure.poliziadistato.it, the measure concerns serious crimes against property committed in Peru between 1996 and 1997.
The operation was conducted by agents from the Barriera Milano Police Station. The Turin Police Headquarters' computer system generated an alert following the man's registration at a hotel facility in the Piazza Derna area. The police officers immediately went to the hotel and proceeded with identification of the foreign citizen.
Verification carried out via the SDI database and the International Police Cooperation Service (Interpol) confirmed the existence of an international arrest warrant issued on 9 May 2025 by the Superior Court of Justice of Lambayeque, in Peru.
According to investigations at the time, the man had participated in a robbery against an agro-industrial company, breaking in together with four other armed accomplices. A few months later, in collaboration with two other accomplices, he took part in an assault on the headquarters of a well-known beverages company: a car stolen with violence from the owner, who had been threatened and bound hand and foot, was used for the getaway.
From subsequent checks by the Immigration Office of Turin Police Headquarters, it also emerged that the 70-year-old was illegally on national territory, having failed to renew his residence permit which expired in July 2025.
Following completion of the checks, the man was transferred to Turin's Lorusso and Cutugno Correctional Facility. The arrest was communicated to the President of the Court of Appeal of Turin and to the Ministry of Justice, to initiate extradition procedures towards Peru.
The criminal proceeding is currently at the preliminary investigation stage. The presumption of innocence therefore applies to the subject of the investigation until a final sentence is handed down.
