A domestic tragedy unfolded on the morning of Sunday 21 June 2026 in an apartment on via Domodossola, in the Parella neighbourhood of Turin. A 40-year-old woman of Romanian origin killed her 13-year-old daughter, probably by strangulation, before taking her own life by hanging.

The bodies were found by the older daughter, 19, who discovered her mother's body and her sister still alive but in critical condition. Emergency services from the 118 responded promptly to attempt to resuscitate the girl, but all efforts proved futile: the 13-year-old was pronounced dead shortly after. The older sister, in a state of shock, was taken to hospital to receive psychological support.

At the time of the tragedy, the father of the two girls was not in the home. The couple was reportedly in the process of separating. Officers from the State Police's rapid response units attended the scene, followed by the mobile squad to conduct investigations. The forensic team also carried out examinations in the apartment.
