The Guardia di Finanza of Rome has dismantled a criminal organisation engaged in international drug trafficking between Spain and the Roman coast, as reported by Google News IT — Crime (it). The operation, coordinated by the Procura of Velletri, resulted in the overall seizure of over 400 kilogrammes of hashish and marijuana, the arrest in flagrante delicto of four people, and the issuance of protective custody orders against two other suspects.
The investigation, conducted by personnel of the Nettuno Company, was launched in May 2025 following a roadside inspection in the Nettuno area: officers stopped a courier and seized approximately 3 kilogrammes of drugs. From that initial intervention, a broader inquiry developed that reconstructed the entire supply chain from the Iberian peninsula.
The investigative findings revealed that the narcotics were being introduced into Italy aboard camper vans specially modified, equipped with false bottoms and hidden compartments. Monitoring of suspicious vehicles enabled officers to intercept a first shipment at the Ventimiglia motorway barrier: approximately 100 kilogrammes of hashish and marijuana were seized and the driver of the vehicle was arrested.
The extension of the investigation, developed also through international cooperation channels, made it possible to locate a second substantial shipment in French territory. The cross-border operation led to the seizure of a further 300 kilogrammes of marijuana and the arrest of two other couriers.
The judicial police activities also made it possible to identify two subjects permanently residing in Nettuno, believed to be responsible for the retail drug dealing network. The judge for preliminary investigations issued orders against them requiring residence in their home town and regular reporting to the judicial police. During home searches, conducted with the support of canine units, additional quantities of narcotics and 3,380 euros in cash were found and seized, believed to be proceeds from the illicit activity.
