The Modena North Motorway Police has arrested three Cuban citizens for aggravated theft in concert at a service area on the A1 motorway.

The State Police arrested three Cuban citizens aged 26, 36 and 48 years old in the early afternoon yesterday, charged with aggravated theft in concert. This is reported by questure.poliziadistato.it.
Officers from the Modena North Motorway Police sub-section, on duty in plain clothes and engaged in targeted checks against predatory crimes against motorists, noticed the three men acting suspiciously within the Secchia Ovest service area on the A/1 motorway.
One of the suspects approached a motorist with the excuse of asking for information, distracting him, whilst an accomplice stole the bag left on the seat. The third man waited in a vehicle ready to flee.
The officers' prompt intervention stopped the operation before the three could get away with the stolen goods. Officers found earpieces on the detainees, apparently used to communicate with each other, a driving licence in the name of an 87-year-old — victim of a theft that occurred earlier the same morning in the province of Reggio Emilia — and three wallets whose ownership is still being established.
This morning the three suspects appeared before the Single Judge of the Modena Court for immediate trial proceedings. The judge upheld the arrest of all three, but did not apply any precautionary measures.
The suspects must be considered innocent until possible final conviction.
