Seriously wounded after surprising thieves around his car
A 48-year-old man is in reserved condition in the intensive care unit of the Irccs Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria "Santi Antonio e Biagio e Cesare Arrigo" in Alessandria after being stabbed in Ovada, in the province of Alessandria. This is reported by ANSA Cronaca, citing the hospital's press office.
According to initial reconstructions, the 48-year-old surprised between three and four people tampering with his car parked along the roadside. His reaction was followed by a violent assault, ending with a knife blow that severed the femoral artery. The Carabinieri are maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the ongoing investigation.
The mayor of Ovada, Gian Franco Comaschi, commented on the incident on social media. "The incident is extremely serious: an act of brutal and unacceptable violence," he wrote, adding that he is in contact with the family and following the man's hospital progress. "The Carabinieri are working with great professionalism to identify those responsible," Comaschi specified, emphasising that "security is a right and the State must guarantee it with effective tools".
The first citizen recalled his administration's investments in video surveillance, public lighting and social prevention, and convened a commission with council group leaders and the forces of order to review the security situation in the territory.
