Officers from the police stations of Pescia and Montecatini Terme have arrested two Italians for a violent assault that occurred in a residence in Ponte Buggianese.

In the afternoon of yesterday, emergency personnel from the 118 service alerted the Pescia Police Station, reporting the treatment of two citizens of North African origin in a peripheral area of Ponte Buggianese. Both presented wounds from blunt objects on various parts of the body, including the head; one of the two also suffered stab wounds to the abdomen and chest.
The two injured men were transferred to Pescia hospital to receive necessary treatment. From initial investigations, it emerged that the victims had fallen into the street pleading for help, with one of the two lying on the ground and with clear signs of abdominal bleeding.
The assault took place inside a house in the immediate vicinity, where neither the victims nor the two assailants were registered as domiciled. Investigators from the two police stations worked in synergy, collecting statements from residents and analysing technical evidence. Within a few hours they identified two Italian citizens, born in 1989 and 1985, both residing in Valdinievole and with criminal records.
The victims reported that during the assault a necklace and cash money had been taken from them. For this reason, in addition to attempted murder, the arrested persons must also answer for robbery. The magistrate validated the detention and ordered imprisonment for both. The owner of the property where the incident occurred was reported for aiding and abetting, as he allegedly attempted to obstruct the investigation. Investigators are still clarifying the motive.
