Detectives from Verona's Mobile Squad have executed a restrictive order signed by the investigating judge of the Veneto capital against ten young people involved in drug trafficking and an assault against rivals in the sector. The measures applied include five custodial orders, three restrictions to remain at their residence, one prohibition on leaving the municipality and one obligation to report to police. The search for one of the men destined for imprisonment is still ongoing.
The investigations, conducted through surveillance, telephone interceptions and audio-video stakeouts, made it possible to dismantle an organisation dedicated to the sale of cocaine and cannabis in the urban area and surrounding territory.
The suspects led an existence marked by ostentatious luxury and the customs of organised crime. To move around they used high-value vehicles obtained through rental agreements using false corporate documentation and communicated through encrypted messaging platforms to organise drug exchanges and evade control by the authorities.
The most serious fact to emerge dates back to last February, when some members of the criminal group organised and carried out a robbery against competitors. After simulating their intention to buy a kilogramme of cocaine and verifying its quality with a sample in an apartment, they assaulted the dealers and forcibly removed the entire quantity of the drug, then fled in accomplice vehicles and divided the proceeds.
The investigations also revealed the systematic recourse to underage boys, used not only to carry out deliveries, but also as guardians of hiding places, with family cellars and storage boxes converted into warehouses for the substance.
