Verona: two arrests for resisting police and drug dealing, residence ban imposed in province

State Police in Verona carried out two arrests in the course of the same day, in two separate operations. According to larena.it, the detentions concern a 48-year-old Romanian citizen for resisting a police officer and a 30-year-old Moroccan citizen for possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Foot chase in Corso Milano
The first operation was launched at around 20.55, after a resident had reported to the Police Headquarters Operations Centre two men of East European origin who had rung his doorbell and then fled. Patrol cars identified two individuals matching the description in the Corso Milano car park, observed examining the surrounding apartments.
Upon seeing the officers, both fled on foot. A chase ensued through the pedestrian passage in the area, via Sesini, Manuel Fiorito gardens and via Meloni. The officers managed to stop one of the two; the other fled. The man detained offered resistance, struggling in an attempt to evade the officers.
A vehicle key card was found nearby. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a balaclava, gloves, a head torch and personal documents belonging to the man. The 48-year-old Romanian, of no fixed abode and with previous convictions known to law enforcement, was arrested for resisting a police officer.
Drug dealing at Bastioni di Circonvallazione Oriani
In the course of the same day, a second operation involved Bastioni di Circonvallazione Oriani, an area known for drug trafficking activity. Patrol cars noticed two individuals handling some packages. Upon seeing the officers, one of the two moved away quickly, dropping packages containing drugs to the ground; the other was stopped immediately.
A personal search led to the seizure of further drugs, mobile phones, packaging material and cash. The total quantity of hashish recovered amounted to approximately 86 grammes. The 30-year-old Moroccan, of no fixed abode and with previous convictions for crimes against property, persons, family and public administration, was arrested for possession of drugs with intent to supply.
Arrests validated, residence ban in province
Both detainees were held at the Lungadige Galtarossa offices pending the direct rite trial. The judge validated the arrests and ordered a residence ban in Verona province for both men.
