Attempted robbery at hotel, man arrested in Vicenza

According to Vicenza State Police, a man was arrested in flagrante delicto this morning for aggravated attempted robbery against a young waitress threatened with death using a shattered glass bottle. The intervention was triggered at around 7:18, when two units from the Flying Squad were dispatched to an accommodation facility on Viale Verona following the report of a violent altercation.

The worker was heading to her workplace when a stranger blocked her path, ordering her to hand over her mobile phone and cash. When the waitress refused, the attacker threatened to kill her, brandishing the neck of a broken bottle. The young woman sought refuge in the hotel lobby, finding protection with her colleagues, but the man pursued her inside the building, continuing to threaten her.

A reception desk clerk and another employee attempted to protect their colleague. During the confrontation, the attacker struck one of the two workers violently in the face, requiring intervention by paramedics from SUEM 118. The timely arrival of State Police units allowed officers to apprehend the man a short distance from the hotel, preventing more serious consequences.

Taken to police headquarters, the man was found to have numerous police records. Investigations revealed that he was subject to a prohibition from residing in the municipality of Vicenza, issued by the judicial authority on 22 July, and was unable to provide any justification for his presence in the municipal territory. The victim filed a formal report at the police station, also providing a still image of the attacker.

The man was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority for arrest in flagrante delicto for aggravated attempted robbery involving the use of improper weapons.
