MCO supporter arrested after sharing armed content on social media

The services of the police prefecture of Oujda detained, on Saturday 6 June 2026, an individual suspected of having relayed on social media an image linking the logo of Mouloudia Club d'Oujda (MCO) to a firearm and ammunition, according to maroc-hebdo.com.

The investigations, supported by specialised technical expertise, made it possible to identify and locate the suspect before his arrest in the city of Oujda. He was placed in police custody within the framework of an investigation conducted by the competent public prosecutor's office, tasked with determining all the offences alleged, as well as the motivations and circumstances surrounding the dissemination of this content.

The enquiries also made it possible to trace the origin of the visual. It is believed to have been initially shared by another person currently residing in a European country, whose identity has been formally established. The latter should in turn be subject to legal proceedings.

The operation is part of the information monitoring system put in place by the National Security Directorate General (DGSN) to combat calls for violence linked to sporting events on digital platforms. The content disseminated is characterised as incitement to hooliganism and an explicit threat against persons and property.
