A woman under the influence of alcohol fatally struck a police officer in Anfa before fleeing. She was arrested with the help of footage from patrol officers' body cameras.

A woman was arrested early on Saturday, 26 September by judicial police officers in the Anfa security zone in Casablanca, suspected of fatally striking a police officer before fleeing, according to le1.ma. The suspect was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The police officers were carrying out traffic checks in the Anfa area when a vehicle travelling at high speed struck one of the agents before disappearing. The officer, seriously injured, died during transfer to hospital.
Identification of the vehicle was made possible thanks to footage recorded by the patrol's body camera, which allowed officers to note down the registration number. The driver was subsequently located and arrested. Initial investigation findings confirm that she was in an advanced state of intoxication.
The suspect and a passenger who was accompanying her were placed under judicial investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office, in order to establish all circumstances of the accident and determine responsibilities.
On an institutional level, the director general of the National Security and Territory Surveillance has decided to grant a posthumous exceptional promotion to the deceased police officer, in recognition of his sacrifice and services rendered to public safety. The Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Officers has furthermore been tasked with providing the family of the deceased with necessary support and presenting the institution's condolences to them.
