Morocco has handed over two Swedish nationals, aged 28 and 42, to Swedish justice for their alleged involvement in drug trafficking networks.

Morocco has handed two Swedish nationals suspected of involvement in large-scale drug trafficking networks to Swedish authorities, according to Google News MA — Crime (fr), which reports an announcement made on Friday by Swedish police (Polismyndigheten).
The two men, aged 28 and 42 respectively, have been transferred as part of strengthened security cooperation between Rabat and Stockholm. The Swedish prosecutor's office has already announced its intention to request their remand in custody.
The 28-year-old suspect: alleged leader of a wholesale network
Swedish police present the younger of the two suspects as the alleged head of a wholesale network that supplied large quantities of narcotics to several criminal organisations in Sweden and other Nordic countries.
Wanted internationally via an Interpol red notice, he was arrested on 30 March last at an airport near Tangier. Swedish investigators accuse him in particular of "particularly serious drug trafficking" and attempted aggravated extortion.
His network is also associated with several seizures made in spring 2025 in Uppsala, Stockholm and Malmö, involving 94 kg of 3-CMC — a synthetic drug known as "crystal" — as well as 56 kg of amphetamines.
The 42-year-old suspect: cannabis smuggling between 2020 and 2021
The second man allegedly held a leading role within a criminal network involved in the organisation and smuggling of large quantities of cannabis into Sweden between 2020 and 2021. Several of his alleged accomplices have already been convicted by Swedish justice.
Two other Swedish nationals arrested in Morocco
Swedish police also report the recent arrest in Morocco of two other Swedish nationals. The first is suspected of belonging to a criminal network active in western Sweden and is wanted for particularly serious drug trafficking and particularly serious weapons trafficking.
The second, aged 28, allegedly fled while he was supposed to serve a prison sentence for aggravated violence against a woman and illegal threats.
A security agreement concluded in Stockholm in April
These operations are part of strengthened police cooperation between the two countries. In April, the director general of the DGSN and DGST, Abdellatif Hammouchi, travelled to Sweden and signed an agreement with the head of Swedish national police, Petra Lundh, targeting in particular criminal actors operating from Morocco, connections between criminal organisations in the two countries, as well as cross-border organised crime and cybercrime falling under "crime as a service".
Jonas Hemmar, deputy head of the international unit of the Swedish police's National Operations Department (Noa), took the opportunity to praise the quality of this cooperation: "We particularly wish to express our gratitude for the professional and constructive cooperation with Moroccan police."
He added that these extraditions now allow Swedish justice to prosecute individuals considered to have exercised significant influence over drug-related crime in the country.
Erik Friberg, head of the criminal unit of Swedish customs in the South, also emphasised the importance of being able to pursue alleged organisers of criminal networks operating from abroad.
