Educational authorities identified 4,126 attempted cheating incidents during the national baccalaureate examination, held from 4 to 6 June, marking a rise of nearly 50 per cent compared with the previous year.

The baccalaureate examinations, held from 4 to 6 June, were subject to enhanced surveillance which made it possible to identify 4,126 instances of cheating, according to data communicated by the Ministry of Education. This discovery reflects a 49% increase compared with the previous session.
The examination brought together 464,919 candidates. Among enrolled students, attendance reached 96.5%, while among independent candidates, it stood at 52.7%. The marking of papers began in 283 establishments across the country, with the involvement of 31,622 education professionals. Results will be made public on 17 June, following deliberations scheduled for the day before.
According to explanations from officials, this surge in the number of recorded violations results more from improved detection than from a genuine increase in unlawful conduct. The widespread installation of computerised detection tools, combined with increased mobilisation of surveillance personnel, explains this outcome.
Each incident resulted in the drawing up of an official report. These findings will shortly be submitted to the regional bodies authorised to decide on the disciplinary measures to be taken in accordance with law 02.13, which penalises fraud in school examinations.
The ministry has reiterated its intention to ensure strict compliance with regulations with respect to any candidate caught red-handed cheating.
