Electoral fraud in Tangier: Mayor Laymouri's interrogation postponed to 3 November for medical reasons
Mounir Laymouri's health condition forced the judge to postpone his interrogation. The mayor of Tangier remains detained at Asilah prison.

Mounir Laymouri, mayor of Tangier, will not be heard until 3 November
According to fr.le360.ma, the mayor of Tangier Mounir Laymouri was unable to be heard on Tuesday 13 October by the investigating judge at the Court of Appeal in Tangier. Elements of the Royal Gendarmerie returned him to his cell at Asilah prison in the evening.
His physical and psychological state deteriorated suddenly upon his arrival at the courthouse: he suffered from a severe spike in blood pressure, from which he is believed to have been suffering for approximately one week. The defence of the elected official requested the temporary suspension of proceedings, invoking the need to ensure appropriate health and legal conditions. The judge acceded to this request and postponed the detailed interrogation to 3 November.
Laymouri is being pursued in the matter known as the "bag of falsified ballots". Three charges weigh against the president of the municipal council of Tangier: compromising voting operations with a view to altering the election result, participation in forgery of public documents, and corruption by offer, promise and gift to obtain the accomplishment of an act. These prosecutions are based on article 58 of organic law 27.11 relating to the Chamber of Representatives, as well as on articles 352, 353, 251 and 129 of the Criminal Code.
The investigating judge had ordered his placement in pre-trial detention at Asilah prison on 2 October, at the end of 72 hours in police custody. The mayor had been arrested at Tangier Ibn Battouta International Airport upon his return from a flight from Malaga, Spain.
