Law enforcement forces have captured a young man of about twenty years old in the locality of Tameslouht, situated at the gates of the ochre city. He is accused of being involved in the assault and burning of the Royal Gendarmerie office during clashes in the month of October last.

The suspect, nicknamed "Pikola", had been evading police services for an extended period. Reliable information gathered by investigators enabled them to track down the fugitive and put an end to his flight.

The prosecution has ordered his remand in custody. Investigations continue under the control of the national security services. The detainee will be brought before the judicial authority to be questioned on the charges against him.

This capture adds to other previous arrests in the context of the investigation into damage committed against the Tameslouht police station. Assailants had then set fire to the building and vandalised equipment in the surrounding area, with images widely shared on digital platforms.
