Police officer killed by car hit in Casablanca.. Arrest of female driver suspected of alcohol use
A woman was arrested on Saturday on suspicion of hitting a police officer with her vehicle while he was on duty in the Anfal district of Casablanca and then fleeing the scene.

Moroccan police arrested a woman on Saturday suspected of involvement in a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a police officer who was on duty in Casablanca, according to Hespress.
The victim, a security officer attached to the Anfal security precinct, was overseeing traffic control operations when he was struck by a speeding vehicle, after which the driver fled the scene, initial investigation findings revealed. The officer died on the way to hospital, according to the General Directorate of National Security.
Investigators were able to identify the vehicle and trace its registration plate using video footage captured by a camera carried by police patrol unit members, leading to the arrest of the driver. Authorities indicated suspicion that the woman was driving under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
The suspect and another person who was accompanying her were subjected to judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office. The investigation will seek to establish the circumstances of the incident and classify the criminal offences attributed to those involved.
On a separate note, the director general of national security and civil protection issued a decision for an exceptional posthumous promotion of the deceased officer, thereby acknowledging his sacrifice and service. Instructions were also issued to the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Works of National Security Staff to provide necessary support to the officer's family and offer condolences.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
