Forged visa network dismantled in Oujda: eight arrests for fake visa files

Eight suspects arrested in Oujda for falsification of visa documents

Oujda police headquarters apprehended eight people on Monday 12 October in the afternoon who are suspected of being part of a criminal network specialising in the production of forged visa files intended to facilitate irregular emigration, according to barlamane.com.

The General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) clarified that the suspects, aged 21 to 55, include one woman and a repeat offender. Their arrest is the result of an operation conducted jointly with the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST). Police suspect them of being implicated in "falsification of written documents and official documents and their use to organise illegal emigration and human trafficking".

Stamps, printer and vehicle seized

Initial elements of the investigation link the eight individuals to "a criminal network active in the falsification and distribution of documents, papers and administrative acts included in visa application files". These counterfeit files reportedly served as a passport for candidates seeking irregular immigration.

Searches led to the seizure of falsified documents and certificates, a batch of counterfeit stamps as well as photographs. Computer equipment, a printer and a vehicle—presumed to have been used in the course of the trafficking—were also impounded.

The eight suspects were placed in custody as part of the judicial investigation, conducted under the supervision of the competent prosecutor's office. The investigations aim to "clarify all the circumstances of this matter and to identify other possible ramifications of this criminal activity", according to the DGSN.
