Three arrested in Casablanca on charges of trafficking in narcotic medicines and psychoactive substances
Casablanca police have arrested three people, including a pharmacist and his assistant and a woman with a criminal record, as part of a network engaged in illegal trafficking of medicines and psychoactive substances.

According to Hespress, elements from the FIDA-Mers Sultan police station in Casablanca detained three people on Friday evening, as part of an operation targeting a network for the illegal distribution of medicines and psychoactive substances.
The arrests included a pharmacist and his assistant, as well as a woman with a criminal record in drug trafficking cases, according to the authorities' statement.
Trail of crime begins on 19 August
The origins of this case go back to 19 August last, when police stopped a man caught selling hallucinogenic pills. Twenty-five medical prescriptions for controlled medicines were found in his possession. In the same context, a pharmacist and his assistant were arrested on suspicion of the authorities that they were involved in the criminal activity, before they were referred to the judicial authorities following completion of investigation procedures.
Second pharmacist leads to network
Supplementary investigations revealed the involvement of a second pharmacist in the operation, prompting police to stop him and his employee, and they confiscated two forged medical prescriptions for controlled medicines in their possession, along with quantities of hallucinogenic pills, multiple medical documents, and sums of money suspected of being proceeds of the criminal activity.
During the same operation, the woman with a criminal record was arrested while attempting to obtain hallucinogenic medicines from the same pharmacy outside legal procedures, and she was carrying a medical prescription issued in another person's name.
Investigation ongoing to identify remaining suspects
The three were referred to judicial proceedings under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor's office, whilst police continue their investigations to determine the identity of any other persons suspected of involvement in this case.
