Tangier police arrested a Spanish national on Thursday under an international arrest warrant for drug trafficking and money laundering.

Tangier police in the prefecture arrested, on Thursday 8 October, a 45-year-old Spanish national subject to an international arrest warrant issued by Spanish judicial authorities, according to barlamane.com.
Investigators identified the suspect during an operation conducted in the city of the strait, after consulting Interpol's database. Spanish justice is seeking him for alleged involvement in an international drug trafficking network and money laundering.
The man was residing illegally in Morocco at the time of his arrest. He was taken into custody pending his presentation before the competent prosecutor's office.
The Central National Bureau of Interpol in Rabat, attached to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), notified its Spanish counterpart of the arrest with a view to initiating extradition proceedings.
The DGSN stated that this arrest illustrates "the commitment of its services to implement the mechanisms of international security cooperation", particularly in order to locate and apprehend fugitives reported abroad in cases of cross-border criminality.
