A man was killed and a second person injured during a shooting that occurred in the night of Thursday 24 to Friday 25 September 2026, at around 1:30 a.m., in a garage situated on rue du Boldo, behind Ravine Bouillée in Fort-de-France, according to zayactu.org.
According to initial information gathered, an individual is said to have entered the establishment before opening fire on two people present inside. One of them succumbed to his injuries despite the intervention of emergency services. The suspected perpetrator allegedly then stole his neck chains before fleeing.
The second victim, struck by a bullet in the thigh, was evacuated to the Martinique University Hospital Centre. His vital prognosis is said not to be at risk.
The public prosecutor's office was notified and an investigation was opened to identify the shooter and establish the exact circumstances of the attack. The investigation will in particular need to determine whether theft constitutes the main motive for the act.
This homicide is the 21st recorded in Martinique since the beginning of 2026. Of this total, 20 were committed with a firearm and 14 occurred in the police zone.
