A man in his twenties was found riddled with bullets on Wednesday morning in François. This is the 20th homicide recorded in Martinique since the beginning of the year.

According to la1ere.francetvinfo.fr, the body of a man in his twenties was discovered on Wednesday 9 September in the morning, on Allée Konn Lambi in the Presqu'île neighbourhood in François, Martinique. The victim showed multiple bullet impacts to the thorax.
Emergency services, who arrived around 6.20am, found a body already showing signs of rigor mortis. An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy, the sequence of events and any possible motives of the perpetrator or perpetrators.
This death brings the number of homicides recorded on the island since the beginning of the year to 20. Among these cases, 19 are reported to have involved the use of a firearm, illustrating the proliferation of weapons in acts of fatal violence on the territory.
This is moreover the second murder committed in François in 2026, following a previous homicide that occurred in June.
