An officer of the National Police of Peru who works at a station in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho, in Lima, was subjected to an armed attack while driving his car through the Canaán Bajo sector in the Ayacucho region. The uniformed officer was struck by three projectiles and remains admitted to the Regional Hospital, according to a report published by Latinanoticias.pe.

The authorities in charge of the case have not yet established the reason for the assault or clarified why the police officer was travelling through that city in the centre-south of the country. PNP investigators are working to determine whether the incident is related to his institutional duties or whether it was a matter linked to his private affairs.
