Trap singer shot and killed in Lima neighbourhood
Adrián Ferrari, known in the music scene as 'Capricho Ferrari', was shot dead on Friday night on San Pedro street within the Primer Hogar Policial neighbourhood of Villa María del Triunfo, in Lima. According to infobae.com, the 20-year-old was attacked at approximately 21:00.
Ferrari had visited a relative and was descending some stairs when he headed towards where he had parked his motorcycle. Security cameras in the area captured the moment he was handling the vehicle whilst a man remained several metres away, on the other side of the street.
The musician advanced on his motorcycle and, seconds later, at least six shots were heard. After being hit, Ferrari abandoned the motorbike and ran in search of help. The injuries proved fatal and he did not survive.
A second security camera recorded the alleged perpetrator's flight towards a nearby avenue. The images, according to the authorities, could provide key evidence for identifying those responsible.
The investigation was handed to the National Police of Peru, which is working to determine the motive for the attack and identify those involved. The authorities are not ruling out any hypothesis.
Acquaintances of the singer stated that Ferrari had begun to transform personal experiences into songs and was seeking to make his way within the trap genre. Friends and colleagues expressed their regret on social media, where they recalled his talent and trajectory.
The crime adds to a series of attacks against urban artists in the country. According to infobae.com, it is not the first time a singer of the genre has been a victim of violence; several musicians have previously reported extortion payments by criminal organisations operating around the music venues.
