Foreign national shot dead with 16 bullets on Jirón Angaraes, Cercado de Lima

A foreign national died on the night of the attack after sustaining sixteen gunshot wounds on Jirón Angaraes, in Cercado de Lima, according to americatv.com.pe. The victim was identified by police as Maycker Jose Yepes Escalona, who was travelling on a motorcycle and carrying a delivery rucksack at the time he was intercepted.
According to police sources, Yepes Escalona had been summoned previously on block eight of Jirón Angaraes. A man descended from a black-coloured vehicle and began pursuing the victim whilst firing a burst of shots. The man fell to the pavement with multiple wounds to his body.
Vital signs present upon arrival of emergency services; death confirmed at hospital
Despite the severity of his injuries, Yepes Escalona still showed signs of life when emergency units arrived at the scene. Emergency personnel transported him urgently to Hospital Arzobispo Loayza in an attempt to stabilise his condition. Official sources confirmed his death shortly after admission to the medical centre, due to the severity of the damage caused by the projectiles.
Crime scene examiners found 16 bullet casings scattered along a stretch of the street. Agents cordoned off the area of the attack to collect material evidence and take statements from neighbours. The motorcycle on which the victim was travelling was placed in the custody of authorities as part of the investigation.
Escape by motorcycle on Avenida Nicolás de Piérola
Witnesses indicated that the attacker escaped quickly on a motorcycle that was waiting for him on Avenida Nicolás de Piérola after carrying out the shooting. Investigators are already collecting footage from security cameras installed in the surroundings of Jirón Angaraes to establish the escape route. Such recordings will allow them to determine the characteristics of the black vehicle and the motorcycle used by the assailants.
