Operation in central Lima reveals alleged ecstasy manufacturing network
Peru's National Police (PNP) detained two foreign nationals at a property on the third block of Francisco Moreyra y Riglos Street in central Lima, according to infobae.com. During the raid, officers discovered drugs, ammunition, a homemade rifle and a manual press which, according to forensic experts, had been used to manufacture ecstasy tablets.
One of those detained was identified as Juan Alejandro Galeano, 37 years old and Colombian national, known by the alias "Colocho". An Interpol arrest warrant was outstanding against him for extortion. Colonel Cano stated to the media that Galeano is among the most wanted individuals in Colombia for homicide, illegal possession of firearms and escape from a penitentiary facility.
The second detainee is Damián Joaquín Martín, a French citizen identified by the alias "Franchua". Both are under investigation for the alleged manufacture and trafficking of ecstasy, and for being members of the group known as "Los Reclutas del Crimen 2".
Link to BTS concerts and terrorist organisation
The raided property is located in the vicinity of San Marcos stadium, venue for BTS concerts in Lima. Preliminary investigations suggest that those detained had planned to sell the drugs to attendees at those events, an element which the PNP took into account in its inquiries.
Police also indicated that Galeano would be linked to "La Cordillera", an organisation classified as terrorist in Colombia. "In addition to being involved with or part of the terrorist organisation La Cordillera", Colonel Cano stated.
Homemade rifle linked to gold ingot theft on Costa Verde
Among the objects seized was a homemade rifle with ammunition which, according to preliminary investigations, had been used in the theft of a gold ingot that occurred on Costa Verde on 22 March. The weapon will be subjected to forensic examination to determine its origin and establish whether it is linked to that incident or other crimes.
In the room, a box was also found containing the manual press and various wedges which, according to specialists, would be used to shape ecstasy tablets.
Transfer to Dirincri
Juan Alejandro Galeano and Damián Joaquín Martín were transferred to the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri), where proceedings will continue aimed at establishing their individual responsibility and determining whether the seized items are linked to other criminal acts attributed to both individuals.
