Colombian with Interpol red notice detained for selling ecstasy at BTS concerts in Lima

Operation in Lima city centre thwarts ecstasy distribution at BTS concerts

Agents from the National Police of Peru (PNP) and Interpol detained two foreign nationals in a property on the third block of Francisco Moreyra y Riglos street, in Lima city centre, according to peruinforma.com. The property was located a short distance from the National Stadium and San Marcos Stadium, venues designated for the large-scale concerts by South Korean group BTS.

Inside the property, experts found synthetic drugs, ammunition, a homemade rifle and a manual press with metal wedges designed for shaping ecstasy tablets. The authorities indicated that the location of the apartment was chosen strategically to supply attendees at the musical event.

Colombian with Interpol red notice and alleged terrorist links

The main detainee is Colombian national Juan Alejandro Galeano, 37 years old, known as "Colocho", who had an Interpol red notice against him for crimes of extortion, homicide, illegal possession of weapons and escape from a penitentiary centre in Colombia. Police sources indicated that Galeano maintained links with the criminal group "La Cordillera", classified as a terrorist organisation by Colombian authorities.

Detained alongside Galeano was French national Damián Joaquín Martín, alias "Franchua", identified as a suspected accomplice in the chain of drug manufacturing.

Gang identified as "The Crime Recruits 2"

Both detainees would be members of the alleged criminal gang "The Crime Recruits 2", which would have taken advantage of the high influx of young people to BTS concerts to market the illicit tablets.

Following the intervention, the two individuals were placed at the disposal of specialised units of the PNP and the Public Prosecutor's Office for investigations into illicit drug trafficking, manufacture of prohibited substances and illegal possession of weapons.
