Driver attempts to hit police officer in Cajamarca to evade operation and is detained
An unlicensed driver attempted to run down a PNP officer during a SUTRAN control operation in Cajamarca. He was taken to a police station and faces criminal charges.

Unauthorised driver endangers police officer during inspection in Cajamarca
A driver attempted to run down an officer of Peru's National Police (PNP) whilst driving his vehicle during an inspection operation in Cajamarca, according to infobae.com. The officer drew his firearm to stop the manoeuvre. The driver was detained and taken to a police station.
The incident occurred when inspectors from the Superintendency of Land Transport of Persons, Cargo and Merchandise (SUTRAN) were conducting a control operation outside a bus terminal approved by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC). The vehicle being inspected was transporting passengers from Cajamarca to Ciudad de Dios in La Libertad without the necessary authorisation to operate at that national level.
Evasive manoeuvres captured on video
Footage distributed by TV Perú Noticias recorded the moment when inspectors attempted to intervene in the vehicle. The driver closed the window and refused to comply with the procedure. He then drove the vehicle forward despite the presence of officers and police personnel, which directly endangered one of the officers.
"This driver performed evasive manoeuvres to be able to escape, to evade his responsibility," said Carlos Bruzo, SUTRAN spokesperson, to TV Perú Noticias. Bruzo warned that this conduct endangered both the passengers on board and the inspectors and police officers involved in the intervention.
Administrative sanction and criminal complaint
SUTRAN imposed on the driver a control record with F1 code, equivalent to one Tax Unit (UIT). The infraction also involves preventive measures such as impounding the vehicle in a depot, withdrawal of registration plates or retention of the driving licence, as applicable.
The action was not limited to the administrative level. "Through our public prosecutor's office we file criminal complaints with the Public Ministry," said Bruzo. The spokesperson noted that SUTRAN has filed more than 5,000 criminal complaints since 2020, of which 240 corresponded to cases of resistance and disobedience to authority.
SUTRAN: more than 5,500 operations so far this year
The entity reported that its operations are carried out in coordination with the National Police. It has more than 950 inspectors deployed at strategic points on the national road network and in areas with informal bus stops, with presence in 24 regions of the country.
So far this year, SUTRAN has conducted more than 5,500 operations focused on unauthorised transport and issued more than 2,600 control records with F1 code, according to figures provided by Bruzo.
The institution reminded citizens that they can report transport incidents through FiscaFono, WhatsApp line 999 382 606, where it is possible to send photographs and videos. An emergency line 0800-12345 is also available, 24 hours a day.
