Anti-extortion operations in Comas and Chaclacayo result in four arrests
The Robbery Investigation Division of the National Directorate of Criminal Investigation (Dirincri) arrested four suspected extortionists in Lima during simultaneous operations, according to lalupa.pe.
At the Año Nuevo market in Comas, officers detained three individuals linked to the gang Los Temibles del Plomo. One of those arrested was identified as Robinson Salazar Huachihuaca; the other two are minors. The group had been demanding S/3 daily from market traders under threats to their lives. During the operation, police seized three explosive devices and a mototaxi used for illicit activities.
In a parallel action in the district of Chaclacayo, law enforcement detained José Pizango Maruyama in flagrante delicto whilst collecting money left by a victim under telephone extortion. The victim, whose identity is being kept confidential, had handed over a total of S/10,000 to the gang known as Los Inescrupulosos de Villa. The recovered banknotes had been previously photocopied by officers to secure evidence of the crime.
The four suspects face charges including criminal gang activity, extortion and illegal possession of explosives. Investigations are continuing under supervision of the National Police of Peru to identify other possible accomplices of both organisations.
