Police captured a man and a woman from Ecuador accused of killing Luis Alfredo Urrutia, 22, who was defending his female friends from street vendors.

The National Police presented on Tuesday the two alleged perpetrators of the murder of a young university student stabbed last Saturday in Cercado de Lima, according to rpp.pe.
The detainees are Waymar Alexander, 27, and Evelyn Estefanía Luque, 37, both Ecuadorian nationals. They were captured during an operation on Avenida Nicolás Arriola, in the district of San Luis, where they allegedly confessed to their involvement in the crime.
Jorge Luis Castillo Vargas, chief of the Central Lima Police Region, explained at a press conference how the suspects were identified: "At pedestrian crossings, when the traffic light changed, they would perform juggling acts and sell bracelets. That is where police officers identified them and captured the Ecuadorian nationals. When detained, they admitted to being the authors of the homicide they committed against this person".
Both remain in police custody as proceedings continue.
The victim was identified as Luis Alfredo Urrutia Ventura, a 22-year-old university student. He lost his life after receiving multiple stab wounds during a confrontation on Avenida Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, near Parque Juana Larco de Dammert.
According to the police investigation, Urrutia intervened to defend two female friends who were being attacked by street vendors selling bracelets. Gabriela, the victim's sister, recounted that Luis Alfredo had a confrontation with one of the attackers. A third person allegedly handed a knife to the vendor, who allegedly used it to attack the student.
