Surveillance cameras track gunmen after double crime in SJL

Surveillance cameras in San Juan de Lurigancho recorded the escape route of the alleged gunmen who murdered nightwatchman Joaquín Carvajal and David Gamarra on the night of 28 September in the Canto Chico sector, according to panamericana.pe.

The images captured a motorcycle circulating near the victims minutes before the attack. After the shots were fired, the driver apparently waited for the alleged gunman to facilitate his escape. The route of both subjects through different streets in the district was recorded by the surveillance system cameras.

During the tracking operation, police identified the number plate of the motorcycle allegedly used in the crime. The vehicle was seized and its user was detained on suspicion of involvement in the double homicide.

In parallel, an individual identified as alias "Cura", aged 24, was detained in Callao and remains under investigation. Images linked to firearms, ammunition and illicit substances were found on the detainee's mobile phone, items that will be analysed as part of the proceedings. According to preliminary investigations, the arrested man allegedly transported the gunmen who carried out the attack.

Joaquín Carvajal's family demanded that investigations continue until all those responsible are identified. One of the affected parties remains unable to work due to his injuries and fears that his recovery will extend for several months.

Julio Bretoneche, spokesman for Transportistas Unidos, expressed his concern about recent attacks against workers in the sector.
