Murder of lawyer in bar in Peru – security camera footage captures targeted attack
A lawyer and mother of two children was executed in cold blood inside a bar in La Libertad, Peru. The perpetrator fled by motorcycle; no arrests have been made.

Newsbeast.gr has broadcast security camera footage capturing the targeted murder of a lawyer inside a bar in Peru on Saturday, 15 August, at approximately 17:55.
The victim has been identified by local media as Helenn Giulianna Silva Padilla, a lawyer and mother of two minor children. Her murder has caused considerable uproar in the region.
The attack
Silva Padilla had arrived at the "Pikeitos" bar around 14:00 and was seated with three other people – a couple and a man. The establishment is located on the Panamerican Highway, approximately 40 metres from the central plaza of the San Martín de Porres settlement, in Pacasmayo Province in the La Libertad administrative region.
According to Peruvian newspaper UN Diario, two people arrived at the scene by motorcycle. The driver remained in the vehicle, whilst the passenger – wearing a black helmet, grey hoodie and blue jeans – got out and approached the bar on foot.
The armed man approached the fence separating the bar from the road and aimed exclusively at the lawyer. He opened fire from a distance of just a few centimetres; one bullet struck her in the head. None of the other three people at the table were injured.
Escape and hospital
Immediately after the shots were fired, the perpetrator returned to the motorcycle and the two men fled northbound via the Panamerican Highway. Those present rushed the lawyer to Tomás Lafora hospital, where her death was confirmed.
Peruvian television network SOL TV reports that authorities are analysing the security camera footage, which has recorded the perpetrator's movements before and after the attack.
Investigation underway
The case has been taken up by the Criminal Investigations Department of Pacasmayo. Police authorities are searching for the two people who were on the motorcycle, though no arrests have been made to date or their identities disclosed.
The motive remains unknown. Investigators are gathering statements and examining Silva Padilla's personal and professional contacts in order to establish who ordered the targeted attack. The fact that none of the other people present were injured reinforces the assessment that this was an execution with a specific target.
