Clandestine ecstasy laboratory dismantled in Cercado de Lima

The National Police of Peru arrested two people in Cercado de Lima accused of manufacturing ecstasy tablets with the intention of selling them at BTS concerts, exitosanoticias.pe reported. The operation allowed authorities to dismantle a clandestine laboratory and seize weapons, ammunition, and equipment linked to the production of synthetic drugs.

The detainees were identified as J. A. G. (37), alias "Colocho", and D. J. J. M. (23), alias "Franchua". According to a post by the National Police on social media platform X, "Colocho" is wanted internationally and was operating with impunity despite having a criminal record in his country of origin. Authorities identified the detainee as a foreigner named Juan Alejandro Galiano.

"The National Police of Peru arrested in Cercado de Lima J. A. G. (37), alias 'Colocho', wanted internationally, and subsequently detained D. J. J. M. (23), alias 'Franchua'", the National Police stated through their official account.

During the inspection of the premises, officers found a makeshift tool used for large-scale production of doses of narcotics. The seized equipment will be subjected to expert analysis to determine the volume of production and the distribution channels of the network.

"One homemade weapon, one replica, 99 rounds of ammunition, mobile phones, and equipment linked to the manufacture of synthetic drugs were seized. Tablets apparently containing ecstasy were also confiscated", the National Police specified in the same statement.

The weapons and ammunition recovered constitute one of the central aspects of the ongoing criminal investigation. The discovery reveals the violent nature of the organisation, which allegedly planned to introduce the illicit substances among the thousands of attendees at the large-scale musical events in the city.

The Office of the Prosecutor General accompanies the proceedings to establish the quantity of drugs produced and determine individual responsibility of the accused. Investigators are seeking to confirm whether there was a structured plan for the distribution of narcotics during the concerts.
