'El Italiano' sentenced to 35 years in prison for murdering Armonía 10 singer
Pierre Panduro Verástegui received 35 years imprisonment for killing singer Paul Flores in San Juan de Lurigancho. Four other defendants were also sentenced.
Sentence for the murder of Paul Flores: five convicted, the shooter receives 35 years
The First Collegiate Criminal Court of East Lima Court condemned Pierre Panduro Verástegui, alias "El Italiano", to 35 years in prison on Friday, 4 September for the murder of Paul Hambert Flores García, known as "El Ruso", a member of the musical group Armonía 10. According to infobae.com, judge Eva María Vázquez established that Panduro was the one who fired at the group's bus during the early morning of 16 March 2025, in the district of San Juan de Lurigancho.
The court classified the crime as aggravated homicide due to treachery, based on the manner in which the attack was executed. Panduro received the highest sentence for being identified as the direct perpetrator of the shot that ended Flores's life.
In addition to the conviction against Panduro, the court imposed prison sentences on four other defendants. Jorge Roy Reyes Miranda, alias "Jorgito", and Edwin Jesús Acosta Jaramillo, alias "Gordo Chus", were sentenced to 15 years in prison. Mariano Altamirano Ramos, alias "Marianito", and Ángelo Piero Velásquez Moreno, alias "Narizón Ángel", each received 16 years. The difference in sentences reflects the level of participation that the court attributed to each defendant.
According to the investigation, the attack was carried out by a group that moved in several vehicles to intercept Armonía 10's bus. Reyes Miranda reportedly drove the vehicle in which Panduro and Altamirano Ramos were travelling. Acosta Jaramillo was reportedly in charge of another vehicle used during the operation. Velásquez Moreno reportedly drove the motorcycle from which Panduro approached the bus to open fire.
Paul Flores was taken to a medical facility after being shot, but died as a result of the severity of his injuries.
From the day after the crime, Flores's family demanded that those responsible be punished. His widow, Carolina Jaramillo, became the family's main public voice throughout the judicial process. On more than one occasion she questioned the progress of the investigation and had to face difficult moments during hearings.
On one of the most recent days, Jaramillo broke down in tears after the defence of the accused raised questions relating to her marital relationship with Flores, as part of a crime of passion hypothesis. The widow rejected that possibility and maintained that such questioning seeks to divert attention from the case and from the responsibility of those who participated in the attack on Armonía 10's bus.
