The National Police of Peru have been investigating, since this past weekend, two explosive attacks against residences in the districts of Alto Selva Alegre and Cerro Colorado, in the Arequipa region, according to reports from rpp.pe.

The first of the incidents occurred on Calle Los Rosales, near the Apurímac stadium, in Alto Selva Alegre. Unidentified individuals detonated an explosive device that caused damage to the doors and windows of two properties. The motive for the attack remains undetermined.

The second incident was recorded on Calle Andrés Avelino Cáceres, in Cerro Colorado, where the home of a merchant family was affected. The detonation destroyed the door and windows of the property.

According to the victim, hours before the attack they received a message in which criminals demanded money in exchange for not causing them harm. Upon refusing to pay the extortion, their home became a target of the explosive. The authorities are continuing with their investigations.
