Retired PNP non-commissioned officer murders ex-partner Venezuelan woman near 12 October Market
Adela del Valle Jiménez Romero, a 52-year-old Venezuelan and resident of Peru for four years, was shot dead in La Victoria on Monday night after encountering her ex-partner whilst going out to buy medicine for her daughter. According to diarioversionfinal.com, the alleged perpetrator is Manuel Florián Ramos Venegas, a 70-year-old Peruvian and retired non-commissioned officer of the National Police of Peru (PNP).
The encounter led to an argument and a struggle. The woman attempted to flee, but Ramos shot her four times, leaving her dead at the scene, near the 12 October Market in the district of La Victoria, Lima.
The victim's eldest son stated that the ex-officer had been harassing his mother for approximately one month. Jiménez had decided to end the relationship due to Ramos's constant jealousy, who, according to the family member, could not tolerate the break-up.
After the crime, the suspect fled in the direction of Tristán Avenue. The authorities launched an investigation based on the femicide report and found documentation that led them to the suspected perpetrator. Ramos was captured in the district of Independencia, Lima.
PNP officers transferred the detainee to the Criminal Investigation Department of La Victoria. Within hours he will be put at the disposal of the judicial authorities to answer for the case, which shocked residents of the neighbourhood where the crime occurred.
