Woman shot dead in front of her children in Huaral: second murder on same street

A 33-year-old woman was shot dead inside her vehicle in front of her three children on Morales Bermúdez street in Huaral, according to infobae.com. The attack occurred in a school transit area with primary and initial-level schools in the surrounding areas.
The victim was identified as Kelly Valdivia Chigne. Security footage shows that, as the driver was reversing with the car, a man dressed in black and wearing a cap emerged from a corner and approached the vehicle.
The attacker fired at least five shots towards the driver's side. Valdivia Chigne accelerated in reverse attempting to escape, in a manoeuvre that nearly struck the attacker. The subject fired again at the car before fleeing on foot.
The woman was wounded inside the vehicle and died a few minutes later. Police personnel indicated that her body was found lying on the passenger seat, a position that led to the theory that she had attempted to protect one of her children with her body whilst trying to get away from the attacker.
The three minors who were travelling in the front and rear seats suffered no injuries and were placed in the care of relatives.
Criminal investigation agents collected shell casings on the public roadway and inside the automobile. The National Police also obtained footage from businesses and residences located on Negocios, Morales Bermúdez and Colán streets, records that would allow them to reconstruct the attacker's escape route.
The Public Prosecutor's representative indicated that the case is being investigated as a violent death and avoided speculating on hypotheses. He also noted that there is a police record linked to the victim, an element that will be evaluated during the investigation.
Among the lines of investigation is a possible revenge or settling of scores. According to preliminary information, Valdivia Chigne was engaged in money lending in both local and foreign currency in the Huaral jurisdiction. Investigators will need to establish whether the crime is related to that activity, to a customer, or to a dispute with other money lenders. The Criminal Investigation Division (Divincri) was put in charge of the proceedings.
The homicide is the second recorded at the same location in a few days. The previous Friday, two people were attacked on the same street: one died and the other was injured, according to reporting from the scene.
Residents warned that in that sector there are no municipal security cameras, no permanent municipal police presence, and no regular police patrols.
