Keiko Fujimori launches joint front of Armed Forces and National Police against organised crime
President Keiko Fujimori announced on Wednesday the creation of the Unified Command, a structure that integrates the capabilities of Peru's Armed Forces and National Police to combat criminal organisations across the entire national territory.
According to elperuano.pe, the Presidency of the Council of Ministers (PCM) detailed through its official account on X that the strategy will have 1,350 personnel, a special elite unit and a Control and Operations Centre from which all operations will be directed. "A single front against organised crime!", the PCM indicated in its post.
The Unified Command will carry out four main lines of action: search and capture operations throughout the country, special operations led by the elite group, expulsion of foreigners who entered Peruvian territory for criminal purposes, and intelligence operations aimed at dismantling criminal gangs.
The measure seeks to unify under a single command the State's response to organised crime, coordinating military and police resources in a joint operational structure.
