PNP rescues three kidnapping victims and captures criminal gang in Lima
The National Police rescued three kidnapped persons and detained several suspects involved in recent operations in Lima, according to a statement by the Interior Minister.
Punta Hermosa operation: rescue without ransom payment and five arrested
According to lalupa.pe, Interior Minister César Astudillo Salcedo highlighted the results of the National Police of Peru (PNP) in confronting organised crime following a series of operations carried out in Lima.
A major operation was conducted in Punta Hermosa, where agents from the Criminal Investigation Directorate (Dirincri) successfully rescued a citizen who had been kidnapped in San Martín de Porres. The abductors demanded 100,000 soles for his release; no payment was made.
In less than 15 hours, the Dirincri rescued the kidnapped person and arrested five alleged members of the criminal gang, using intelligence capabilities, technology and geolocation.
Astudillo also reported the capture of Jhonsson Smit Cruz Torres, known as "Jhonsson Pulpo", together with his partner, identified by the alias "Catherin", allegedly responsible for the organisation's finances. A war rifle and a pistol were seized during a search of their residence.
The operations also extended to penitentiary facilities: 32 mobile phones were seized in a ward at Ancón I, and in a previous intervention 19 other devices had been recovered, demonstrating the use of illicit devices within the prisons.
Astudillo attributed these results to sustained work of monitoring, intelligence and police response, aimed at confronting criminal organisations and protecting citizens.
