Homicide suspect in Juliaca captured with pistol and 99 rounds of ammunition in Ayaviri
The National Police of Peru detained a 31-year-old man on the Puno-Cusco highway linked to a homicide outside a nightclub in Juliaca. Officers seized a pistol, three magazines and 99 rounds of ammunition.

A 31-year-old man identified as L. M. E. L. was detained in Ayaviri, province of Melgar, whilst travelling as a passenger in a transport vehicle apparently bound for Cusco, according to elbuho.pe. Agents from the National Police of Peru (PNP) intercepted him on the Puno-Cusco highway after receiving information about his movements.
The detainee is being investigated for his alleged involvement in a homicide recorded hours earlier in the vicinity of a nightclub in Juliaca, in the Puno region. The PNP initiated control measures on the road after becoming aware that the suspect was attempting to leave the area.
During the intervention, police officers seized a pistol, three magazines and 99 rounds of 9-millimetre ammunition. In addition, they found a body armour vest with two protective plates, two mobile phones and articles of clothing for police use.
The institution stated that all these items were considered of interest for the ongoing proceedings. The origin of the weapons and their possible connection to the homicide being investigated will be determined in the framework of the corresponding investigations.
The case remains open whilst the authorities continue working to clarify the circumstances of the crime that occurred in Juliaca.
